The Fintech space has grown exponentially in the last few years. It has a bright future in terms of the quality of engineering and the new projects being proposed. However, this growth relies heavily on the contributions of open source communities. In order to stay on track, the fintech community requires new users who are interested in the intersection of finance and software development to achieve all of its technical goals. In this talk, Maria and Matt will highlight the Spinnaker community as an example of managing open source contributions in a highly regulated industry. Maria will propose a community engagement strategic plan that involves revamping the new user experience for members of FINOS projects, new content ideas, and community support for new members of the fintech community. Matt will share his experience in becoming a top Spinnaker contributor and steering committee member as a software engineer at an investment bank. Finally, they will end with a call- to action for members to get involved in more community events to encourage community growth and retention.
